“Your dreams are like the cement. If you water it with actions, it becomes a hard concrete mass.” – Israelmore Ayivor

When you started your fine art degree what direction/career did you hope/aim to pursue?
I thought I would continue working as a fine artist, however very soon after graduating I began producing various concrete surfaces and furniture as bespoke commissions for contemporary interiors.

How did experimenting with concrete mixes transition into basin design specifically?
The demand grew for bespoke concrete basins and I could see the potential of developing a refined product line of concrete basins that were strong, durable and aesthetically pure.

What makes concrete so special?
Concrete is an extremely versatile material that combines the characteristics of natural stone with the ability to be cast into any shape. The organic variations in colour and texture that occur when concrete is mixed also creates a distinctive aesthetic that is integral to the character of the material.

How does it cope in hard water areas?
All our basins are fully sealed with a one time specialist sealer. The concrete will naturally patina over time like any other natural stone depending on the usage and environment.

Does it stain e.g. mouthwash?
Our sealing system provides the most effective seal against staining whilst still maintaining the natural look and feel of concrete. We do advise however that any spills of this nature are wiped away as soon as possible to prevent compromising the quality of the sealer over time.

How do you maintain/clean concrete basins?
We advise cleaning with a non-abrasive cloth and a mild, neutral cleaner. Warm soapy water is usually sufficient. For more information regarding maintenance we offer an advisory document upon request.

Can a regular bathroom fitter install them?
Yes we provide brackets with all our wall-mounted basins for easy installation. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that there is a sufficient structural wall in place for the brackets to be fixed to in order to support the weight of the basin. Again, more information about this can be found in our advisory document.

Could a matching wc range follow?
There are no plans at the moment to make concrete toilets. We are, however, currently in the development process of introducing freestanding frames and concrete baths to our range.
